Spring Term

 Spring
 Maths
LO: To make the same amount - money.
To start off the new year we have been learning about money and the children have been looking at the different coins and notes. Today we have been using the coins to make the same amount as what I had on the board. The children have worked really hard together to work out the different amounts.
Well done!

 The Great Fire of London!
Wow what an exciting day! We have had a Great Fire of London workshop and got the chance to take part in lots of exciting activities. We pretended to be the buildings in London and watch how the fire can spread over the city! We have passed buckets of water down a line to re-enact how the people would have tried to put the fire out!
 Art
LO: To know the difference between hot and cold colours.
We have been looking at hot and cold colours and what these look like. The children used their knowledge and understanding to fill in the blank colour wheel using the different colours.

 Science
LO: To use different materials
We have been looking at different materials and the properties of the different ones.
The children worked together to design a waterproof hat for our bear.

 DT
LO: To make Roly Poly toys.
We have been  making Roly Poly toys, the children had a lot of fun racing them against each other. The children then evaluated what they liked and disliked about the toy.
The Great Blakehill Bake Off
The children worked especially hard at home and baked some delicious bread for our bake off.
They thought about what flavour and appearance it should have and how this links with 'The Great Fire of London'. Take a look at their incredible creations.

 ICT - Robot Algorithms
We have been learning about robot algorithms and how we can direct a person or a robot on a map.
We looked at where the robot was starting and where we wanted it to finish, then we discussed the route that the beebot could take. The children had lots of fun working together to direct the beebot on the map.

Maths
LO: To make arrays.
In maths we have been looking at arrays and how objects can be arranged e.g in rows or columns. We practically made different arrays and the children decided if they would like to do it in rows or columns. They explained their array to the class and we discussed the different ones.

Maths
LO: To share into groups equally.
We have had some helpers in maths this week, they have been coming up to the front of the class and teaching the other children how to divide. In our maths lessons we have been learning about dividing ( sharing into equal groups) and how to answer the different questions. Well done to everyone that helped to teach their friends, it was super tricky!
