As you are aware, we cannot be in school together today. As part of the whole school Black History focus in Reception we have been focusing on our own families and talking about our similarities and differences within our class. We would like you to complete a home learning task to support the work we have already completed in class which can then be included in our display.
We have been learning the poem 'The colour of Us' by Lezette Rivera and had some wonderful discussions about skin colour.
Another verse from the poem is below. Your child is familiar with this as we have been sharing the book within class.
Please take time to discuss your family similarities and differences with your child. Encourage them to say what is the same or different in comparison to a family member. Collect their resonse in a quote and send it in to us via our class email: receptionhomelearning@blakehillprimary.co.uk
For example,
"I have brown eyes like my mummy."
"My eyes are blue but my brother's eyes are brown."

Over the past two weeks we have been working hard to learn the letters and the corresponding sounds for the first two groups we have introduced. They are:

We would like your child to go on a hunt around their house to try and find an item that begins with each sound. They could also practise their handwriting by trying to write each letter down too. Please send any photos of this activity to our home learning email address above.

Yesterday we were introduced to the number 4 in our Mastering Number session. Take a look at the following powerpoint with your grown up:
Can you go on a hunt around your home for the number 4. You may find one in the kitchen, on your house door or even in a book. See how many you can find. Also, please see below for an activity to let you create your own number four character. This is a simple but engaging task to use four green blocks to make their own representations of Numberblock four in different configurations and orientations.
