New Reception Parents 2026

Welcome to Blakehill Primary School

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Blakehill Primary! We are very much looking forward to meeting you and your child and thank you for choosing our school.

On the 25th June there is a welcome session in school and you will receive your Welcome Pack during this meeting. Copies of all of the documents are on this page too. Please note that some of the documents in your welcome pack need completing and returning to school either electronically or by hand. If you have any questions about the contents of your pack please email the school office.

At the welcome session we will give you a date for when your child will start school and let you know who your child's class teacher will be. We will also let you know about a stay and play session for you and your child in this summer term. We will also explain to you about our transition into school. In the meantime we hope that you find the photos useful in supporting your child in understanding their next steps.

We will be adding more items to this page in the coming weeks, so please do keep taking a look and let us know if there is any other information you would like us to add.

Please do get in touch if you have any questions via the school office either by phone or email.

The children in Reception learn through play opportunities withing the Early Years setting. Children use our indoor and outdoor classrooms which include a woodland space and an indoor/outdoor unit. We provide learning opportunities within all of our learning spaces for children to explore and learn. We call this provision. Take a look at some of the provision we have enhanced this year to support our reception children with their learning.
This is the gate where your teacher will greet you each morning. We ask that you say goodbye to your grown up here before walking into the classroom to put your belongings away. In September, you will have your own peg label so that you know where to put all of your belongings.
At the end of the school day your teacher will dismiss you from one of these doors. When you have heard your name being called this means a teacher has seen your adult and you can go to them. At the start of the year it takes a little time until we get to know who everybody is. Please bear with us whilst we learn all of your faces.
If you would like to familiarise your child with their new school please take a look at the pictures below.
On the morning of your welcome session you will enter school through the main office and enter your new classroom through the doors below. You will asked your name so that we can tick you off on our register and then be directed to the carpet where you will have all of your lessons this year.
Below is our school hall. This is where we have our dinner, PE lessons once a week and our assemblies.
