Autumn Term

Welcome Sessions

The children are all invited into school this week to spend their first morning at Blakehill. Children are coming into RP in groups of ten to allow us to spend lots of time with each child and get to know them really well. Parents are welcome to join us for the first part of the morning to support their child in making their own magic wand and mini person for our display. After that parents can say goodbye so that the children have some time to explore independently. At lunchtime parents are invited back to join us for a delicious school dinner in the hall.

WC 7th September

This week the children have been attending school for just the mornings. During our story times we have ben reading 'The Colour Monster' by Anna LLenas. If you would like to share this story with your child at home please follow the link below.

Zones of Regulation

The children have been introduces to the zones of regulation this week. We looked at the different zones and the words they can use to talk about how they are feeling. We worked together to sort the different emotions in the to the correct zones. Each day we focussed on a different zone and came up with ideas of what we could do to get us back the the green zone.

Our First Phonics Lesson - Monday 14th September

Phase 1 Phonics - Listening Game

The children have been working on the phase 1 phonics skill of hearing instrumental sounds. The children took it in turns to play a musical instrument the whilst everyone else had to guess what instrument was being played.

The Gingerbread Man

This week the children have been learning about the story 'The Gingerbread Man' They made predictions about the story, discussed the characters (who?) and discussed the setting (where?). The children then had a go at designing their own gingerbread man.

Phase 1 Phonics - Listening Walk

The children went on a listening walk around school to work on the phase 1 phonic aspect of environmental sounds. They used their listening ears to carefully listen for the different sounds that they could hear around the school grounds.
