Autumn Term

Autumn 1

6N have come back to school ready to go and have settled in straight away to life in year 6.

In English we are off to a fantastic start. We have had some wonderful discussions in lessons making predictions about our new text for this half term. I am very impressed by the pupils creativity and have thoroughly enjoyed hearing their ideas. A few of us even managed to predict the text correctly and used the clues to identify that we are using the text of Frankenstein to inspire our writing. Pupils then dug deeper into some of the characters introduced and wrote some really good character descriptions.
6N were excited to start our learning about the Ancient Maya civilisation in History! Our first lesson was all about exploring the timeline and when the Maya civilisation happened. It was interesting to find out what was happening in Britain at the same time. We discovered how long the Maya civilisation lasted for so we are now curious to find out what we have learnt from this long period in history.
In PSHE the children discussed what it means to show team work. Teamwork is Teamwork is the collaborative effort of a group to achieve a common goal, where individuals combine their unique skills, knowledge, and perspectives to accomplish a task more effectively than they could alone.

To show this, we asked George to sort 5 towers of coloured bricks alone in 10 seconds. He was not able to do this but when he worked as part of a team, he was successful.
In PSHE 6N  we have looked at friendship and how to manage conflict. Friendship conflict is normal and can actually strengthen relationships by fostering deeper understanding, problem-solving skills, and the ability to negotiate and compromise. The children looked at some problems and how they would resolve them with their friends.
