Visiting local artist- Tim Curtis

We were excited to welcome a local artist called Tim Curtis to our school. He worked with each year group to produce some wonderful 3D work. Tim developed 3D skills from Reception right the way through to Year 6 showing some wonderful progression of artistic skills. Tim focused on using cardboard as the media for all the work produced and it was fantastic to see how cardboard was used differently and creatively in each class.
We held a competition at Blakehill to create a piece of artwork in the style of Van Gogh. The children did an amazing job. Twenty winners were chosen to visit the Van Gogh Alive exhibition. The runners up all received a watercolour pallet. Well done to everyone who entered the competition.
The Arts Council went on a trip to Cartwright Hall in Bradford to complete the Arts Trail. We had a wonderful morning. We learned all about different pieces of art and enjoyed sketching in our mini sketch books.
Some children from Key Stage 2 took part in an art workshop from the Peace Museum- The Wild Escape. It was a two hour interactive workshop to support a nationwide project to picture the future of the UK's wildlife.
